GoPro has designed the HERO3+ with a new lens to improve focus and sharpness for both video and photos. The new camera is optimized for improved image clarity at all focal ranges – edges, center, close and distance. If you are experiencing loss of clarity or focus at a distance, this is not an expected outcome. It's possible that there may have been an issue with the production of your particular camera if you're seeing a loss of focus.
Please clean your camera's lens per the below instructions, as the tiniest smudge can affect the clarity of the image, and perform a test recording with your camera once more.

If cleaning the lens doesn't do the trick for you, please take a picture with your camera that demonstrates the issue. Please take a picture outdoors, in bright, sunny conditions. These are the optimal conditions for the camera to perform in so that we can benchmark its performance against what is expected. Can you please attach the picture in your reply to this email so that we can check it out for you?
If it seems that there's an issue with your camera's focus, our Engineers would definitely like to get the camera back so that they can see what may have gone wrong during its production. Once we get the sample picture from you, we'll be able to determine what needs to happen next to make sure that you have a working camera in your hands.
